Kuraray Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Hitoshi Kawahara; hereinafter “Kuraray”) has submitted a commitment letter to the Science Based Targets (SBT*) initiative, aiming to obtain SBT certification for its greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets that align with the levels set by the Paris Agreement.
The Kuraray Group has defined Sustainability as one of its management strategies and recognizes climate change countermeasures as one of the priority measures. For the GHG emission reduction (Scope 1, 2), we aim to achieve a 63% reduction by 2035 compared to 2021 levels, targeting net zero carbon emissions by 2050. And, for GHG emission reduction from the supply chain (Scope 3), we aim to reduce Category 1 emissions by 37.5% by 2035 compared to 2021 levels considering the characteristics of the Kuraray Group's business activities.
Through these efforts, we aim to achieve the Kuraray Group's Sustainability Long-Term Vision.
