Kuraray Co., Ltd.

Kuraray Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Masaaki Ito; hereinafter “Kuraray” or the “Company”) has been implementing a variety of countermeasures to address the spread of the novel coronavirus. In light of measures taken by the national and prefectural governments of Japan as well as the current rates of infection in and outside Japan, our policy going forward is as follows.

1. Basic Policy

The Kuraray Group Risk Management Policy states that health and safety shall take precedence over business continuity or recovery. Based on this policy, the Kuraray Group is taking such actions as announcing security threat levels for each region and overseeing the approval/denial of employee applications for business travel in line with statements from the Japanese government as well as the Company’s own crisis management standards.

2. Measures for Domestic Group Employees (as of June 11)

(1) Business travel overseas is prohibited.

(2) The prohibition on business travel within Japan is lifted, in principle (a change from previous measures).
・Employees are asked to refrain from non-essential, non-urgent business travel, including visits to business partners.
・Employees are asked to proactively use other means of communication, such as telephones, teleconferencing and online meetings.

(3) Employees are asked to voluntarily refrain from hosting and participating in events.

(4) The use of flexible-commuting and telecommuting programs is recommended (Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya).

We will continue to place the health and safety of Group employees first while renewing our commitment to the Kuraray Group’s corporate philosophy of “providing value to society” and striving to minimize any impact on our customers and business partners.
