Kuraray Co., Ltd. has implemented the following countermeasures in response to the spread of the new coronavirus.
To ensure the safety of its employees, the Kuraray Group has made decisions regarding business travel and announced security threat levels for each region in line with its own crisis management standards and based on statements from the World Health Organization (WHO) and Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Kuraray Group Countermeasure Team was established on January 24 to address the spread of the new coronavirus.
① Prohibition against Business Travel to Mainland China (This prohibition, both here and in subsequent references, excludes Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.)
As a general rule, business travel to mainland China is prohibited for Group employees, excluding employees of Group companies in mainland China.
② Prohibition against Overseas Business Travel from Mainland China
As a general rule, business travel from China to other countries is prohibited for employees working at locations in mainland China (including employees stationed at those locations from other countries).
③ Temporary Restrictions for Employees who Are Stationed in Mainland China but Visiting Their Home Country
Employees who are stationed at locations in mainland China but are temporarily visiting their home country are, as a general rule, prohibited from returning to their workplace or visiting business partners for the first 10 days after they return. These employees are required to telecommute through conference calls, online meetings, or other such methods.
Although the Kuraray Group has 13 Group companies in mainland China, mainly in Shanghai, it does not have any locations in the city of Wuhan in Hubei province. Each Group company plans to begin operations in line with the policies of the central government and regional governments and will continue to take measures to ensure the safety of their employees.
We will continue to gather information from various sources and swiftly implement countermeasures as needed in response to the situation.
