Shanghai Tower incorporates TROSIFOL in its construction
Kuraray Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Masaaki Ito; hereinafter "Kuraray" or the "Company") hereby announces that it will participate in "ARCHITECTURE +CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS 2018," a comprehensive construction and civil engineering material trade show to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from March 6 through 9, 2018. At this event, Kuraray will exhibit such products as TROSIFOL, which is widely used as an interlayer film for laminated safety glass in structures all around the world; EVAL, a plastic resin that helps improve the performance of vacuum insulation panels (VIPs); and KURARITY, an innovative material used for the light guide components of lighting and illumination equipment.
1.Products to Be Exhibited at the Trade Show
TROSIFOL (interlayer film for laminated safety glass)
Boasting superior transparency and penetration resistance and highly cohesive to glass, TROSIFOL interlayer film brand products comprise polyvinyl butyral (PVB) films and ionomer films and are widely used in the windows of high-rise buildings and other structures. While TROSIFOL-laminated glass meets stringent requirements for safety as well as sound insulation, UV filtration and other performance parameters in the field of building construction, the brand also encompasses a lineup of innovative products for interior use, including colored interlayer films, digital print interlayer films and other decorative films. In yellowness index (YID) comparisons with competing products, TROSIFOL interlayer films are unparalleled in terms of transparency.
EVAL (plastic resin that helps improve VIP performance)
EVAL, an ethylene vinyl alcohol polymer resin, boasts the greatest gas impermeability (gas barrier property) of any plastic material. At the event, Kuraray will exhibit VIPs made using this material. Due to the growing trend toward energy- and space-saving home appliances, conventional thermal insulation materials, including the urethane foams used in such products as refrigerators and electric pots, are increasingly being replaced by VIPs, which offer superior insulation with less bulk. Moreover, VIPs are now being used in the field of construction. Thanks to its gas barrier performance, EVAL is capable of improving VIPs’ insulation, durability, heat resistance and reliability.
KURARITY for light guide applications
KURARITY for light guide applications
KURARITY is a new series of acrylic block copolymers (MAM: Methyl-methacrylate- Acrylate- Methyl-methacrylate) produced using Kuraray’s unique anionic living polymerization technology. KURARITY exhibits a variety of properties, including excellent clarity, elasticity and moldability. Due to these properties, KURARITY is increasingly being employed in parts for illumination devices that use single LEDs as light sources.
