Kuraray Co., Ltd. announces organizational changes to the manufacture of resin cast sheets and synthetic marble, which form part of its proprietary methacrylic resin manufacturing business that includes MMA (methyl methacrylate) monomer, methacrylic resin molding material and resins. Details of the changes are set out below.
By carrying out these changes, the Kuraray Group intends to ensure the competitiveness of its core businesses and offer value-added improvements.
The Japanese subsidiary, Kuraray Niigata Kasei Co., Ltd., will cease the production and supply of methacrylic resin cast sheets. With the exception of certain products, production and supply will be shifted to the Chinese subsidiary, Kuraray Methacrylate (Zhang Jia Gang) Co., Ltd..
The production of acrylic synthetic marble will be transferred from Kuraray Niigata Kasei Co., Ltd. to Kuraray's main Niigata plant. This will serve to centralize the development and manufacture of this product.
In accordance with the above changes, Kuraray Niigata Kasei Co., Ltd. will cease manufacturing activities at the end of March 2007. In principle, its workforce will be reallocated within the Kuraray Group.
