Kuraray Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo; President: Fumio Ito; hereafter "Kuraray"), the sponsor of the Sending School Bags Across the Sea Campaign, today announced that it will start accepting used school bag donations for 2010 from Saturday, January 9.
School bags can only be donated via Internet application.

The Sending School Bags Across the Sea Campaign

The manufacturer and marketer of CLARINO man-made leather that is used for school bags, Kuraray has a more than 70% share of the market for this material. Kuraray also plays a central role in the distribution of donated used school bags to children in Afghanistan and Mongolia.

Begun in 2004, this campaign is now marking its seventh anniversary. Over 60,000 school bags have already been delivered to children in Afghanistan and other countries.
In addition, Kuraray plans to have "Kuraray-chan," an alpaca that serves as its TV commercial mascot, give away blackboards in 2010.

Along with the start of accepting donor applications for the Sending School Bags Across the Sea Campaign, Kuraray will sponsor the Kuraray "Mirabakesso" Presents "Sending School Bags Across the Sea" event at Mediage in Odaiba, Tokyo on Saturday, January 9 from 3:30pm to 5:00pm.
