Reduction of Environmental Load/Setting New Targets for GHG Emission Reduction

Scope 3 GHG emissions have been calculated only for Japan, but we are now proceeding with the calculation of emissions for the entire Group, including overseas. To coincide with the Group-wide rollout, we also changed the calculation formula to improve accuracy. One upshot was that we were unable to complete the Group-wide calculations by the end of 2023 as planned, identifying categories that account for two-thirds of all emissions and setting a Scope３ emission reduction target for the whole supply chain. In 2024, we completed the calculation of group-wide GHG emissions and identify the categories that account for 2/3 of Scope 3 GHG emissions, and at the same time and set Scope 3 GHG emission reduction targets for the entire supply chain.

We aim to obtain Science Based Targets (SBT)* certification for our Scope 1 and 2 as well as Scope 3 GHG emission reduction targets.

* SBT (Science Based Targets) Voluntary targets set by business corporations with regards to GHG emission reductions in a manner consistent with the levels required by the Paris Agreement. The SBT certification ensures that the company's targets are scientifically based and aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
