Kuraray is a signatory of the Responsible Care® (RC) Global Charter advocated by the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA), and engages in RC activities under commitment by top management. RC is a name for activities to improve the quality of life and contribute to sustainable development through chemical products by managing them safely throughout their life cycle. Kuraray works on the six activity items, i.e. environmental conservation, process safety and disaster prevention, occupational safety and health, logistics safety, chemical and product safety, and interaction with society. Specific activities are conducted based on the policies of chemical associations of each country.

United Nations Global Compact
Kuraray endorsed and became a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact. Kuraray believes that corporate activities fully taking into account the four areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption and 10 principles of the UN Global Compact, globally agreed under the United Nations, form the foundation of fulfilling its responsibility as a global company to achieve sustainable growth.

Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
Kuraray has declared its support of recommendations issued by the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and has joined the TCFD Consortium in Japan. The Kuraray Group will strengthen its initiatives against the climate change issue and promote disclosure of information in line with the TCFD recommendations.

Responsible Care® Global Charter
Japan Clean Ocean Material Alliance (CLOMA)
CLOMA is a Japanese initiative to tackle the marine plastic problem which is a rising issue on a global scale. A wide range of business operators throughout the supply chain take part in CLOMA. As a member of the Dissemination & Promotion Work Group and the Technology Work Group, Kuraray is strengthening its cooperation with related parties beyond the boundaries of industry sectors.
GX League
The Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan (METI) established the “GX League” initiative to facilitate public-private-academia cooperation towards the decarbonization of Japan. The GX League is a forum for cooperation between a group of companies and the government, universities, and academic institutions in order to meet greenhouse gas reduction targets and increase industrial competitiveness by using Japan’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2050 as an opportunity for economic growth. Kuraray will promote initiatives to reduce GHG emissions with various companies and institutions towards the 2050 net zero carbon target.
