Kuraray Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Fumio Ito) has decided to expand production capacity for VECSTAR liquid crystalline polymer film, which is used as a printed circuit board (PCB) material for high-speed data transmission, at the Saijo Plant (Saijo City, Ehime Prefecture; General Manager: Kenji Okuraya).
Kuraray is promoting the development of next-generation businesses based on the principal management strategies laid out in its GS-Ⅲ medium-term business plan, now in its second year. Among those businesses, we expect an increase in demand for VECSTAR liquid crystalline polymer film, for which we have been endeavoring to create new markets while expanding existing markets in the optical and electronic areas.
Globally, the speed and volume of wireless communication via smartphone and tablet are rapidly increasing, in turn prompting demand for PCB materials with lower signal transmission loss. VECSTAR boasts low signal transmission loss and has excellent practical physical properties, including heat resistance, that make it suitable for hand-soldering. PCB with VECSTAR enables lower cost and smaller space by integrating components while meeting needs for high-speed data transmission. Given the advantages of this product, we decided to expand production capacity and to aggressively promote business expansion related to VECSTAR.
