UL (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.) is an independent testing and certification body established in the United States in 1894 with the aim of contributing to public safety. For more than a century, UL has helped ensure product safety in a range of industries, mainly through the formulation of product standards and the provision of testing and certification services based on such standards. The "UL" symbol has been recognized by a number of state and municipal governments in the United States and is trusted as a proof of quality and credibility by U.S. consumers. Also, approximately 70% of UL's safety standards have obtained the approval of the ANSI (American National Standards Institute) and have been adopted as national standards in the United States.
