Kuraray Tamashima Co., Ltd. (Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture) has completed test operation of expanded poval film manufacturing facilities, boosting the annual production capacity of line number 1 to 15 million m², and these facilities are now in full operation. Poval film is the base for the polarized film that is essential to the manufacture of liquid crystal displays (LCDs). In addition, test operation of line number 2 will commence immediately, following its expansion to an annual production capacity of 15 million m². Combined with the existing capacity of Kuraray Saijo Co., Ltd., Kuraray now has total annual production capacity of 61 million m².

Kuraray Tamashima's new facilities are capable of producing the wide poval film that is needed for large-screen LCDs, and offers the higher quality required for these larger screens.
